Botox is produced by the Clostridum Botulinum bacteria. Botox is a purified toxin and even though it is a toxin, when used in small amounts, it does not cause any real injury or damage to the body. Basically a few drops of Botox are injected into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. This results in the muscle relaxing and thus softening the wrinkles in the skin. The surrounding muscles remain unaffected. Botox is most commonly used and most effective to reduce frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead, and crow’s feet or laugh-lines around the eyes.

Botox has been used for over 12 years and is one of the safest ways to correct wrinkles. Also, Botox is non-invasive and not permanent so any side effects may be temporary and also may be localized to the areas where Botox was injected. Botox injections are not really painful, they simply feel like a temporary pinch. The skin is numbed before a Botox injection using cold compresses or anesthetic creams.

Botox is quick and fast and can be done during lunch hour as it takes less than 20 minutes with absolutely no down time necessary after it is injected. Most Botox treatments last for about three months.

So if you are tired of those frown lines or wrinkles between your eyes and forehead, it may be time to check if you are a candidate for Botox. Contact our office today and get a free consult from one of our experienced staff.
