As you age, some drooping and sagging of the eyelids is inevitable. Your eyelids stretch and the muscles supporting them tend to weaken, causing excess fat to gather above or below your eyelids. Unfortunately, this natural process can cause you to look older and lead to bags under the eyes.
The solution? Blepharoplasty, a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess skin around the eyelids. Small incisions are made in the upper eyelid creases and below the lower eyelid lashes and the skin is tightened for a more youthful and more radiant appearance, both for men and women.
Surgery can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both. For upper eyelids, an incision is made to the inside corner of the upper lid along the natural fold, where excess skin and fat are carefully removed.
With lower eyelids, an incision is made below the lashes where excess skin and fat are removed. If the lower eyelids only need fat removed, an incision is placed inside the lower eyelid.
The result? After your eyelid adjustment, you’ll look increasingly youthful, less tired and more alert. Dr. George Pope and his staff will be happy to answer your questions about all aspects of the blepharoplasty procedure, including the recovery process.
