Typically gynecomastia is treated by two procedures:

Excision of male breast tissue

For this, an incision is made along the inferior areola border and is taken down to the breast tissue. The tissue can then be separated from the overlying skin and underlying pectoralis muscle fascia. Once it is totally free from the surrounding tissue, it can be removed from the wound. Hemostasis is then obtained and a drain is put on the bruised part to prevent the collection of fluid. Once the breast tissue is resected it does not return and the skin re-contours to the chest wall without leaving any evidence that the problem ever existed.

Use of liposuction procedures

Gynecomastia may be due to true breast development in men or more commonly it may be the accumulation of fat over chest simulating male breast development. Gynecomastia may be due to true breast development in men or more commonly it may be the accumulation of fat over chest simulating male breast development. In such cases liposuction is the most effective way to eliminate this unwanted accumulation of fat and underlying male breast tissue. Microcannulas are used for suction of fat to avoid any visible scars on the chest. A more masculine contour is restored for the chest once the excessive fat is removed.
