We all strive to look our best—we dress accordingly, get our hair done just right, and we make the necessary adjustments in our appearance to help us feel more youthful and confident. But what about the health and happiness of our inner-self?
New research has revealed that adopting the Mediterranean way of eating may reduce your risk of depression.
What is the Mediterranean Diet? Well, you may have also heard it called the “Sonoma Diet.” This is a diet rich in veggies, fruits, nuts, and whole grains, complemented by fish as opposed to meats, as well as small amounts of monosaturated fats found in olive oil and foods like avocados.
The study found that subjects who followed the Mediterranean diet were more than 30% less likely to suffer from depression than those who didn’t follow the diet!
Conducted by researchers at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Pamplona Spain, the study followed the dietary habits of 10,000+ healthy adults for nearly five years.
So, if you want to feel as great as you look, give the Mediterranean diet a try. Thousands of years of eating this way can’t be wrong… get more fruits, veggies, nuts and avocados in your diet—less red meats, refined sugars, and saturated fats, then let us know how you feel. 🙂
