JUVÉDERM®
JUVÉDERM XC is one of the dermal fillers that Orlando, FL, plastic surgeon Dr. George Pope and nurse injector Linda Gilliland use to instantly smooth away wrinkles around the mouth and nose. With just one treatment, medical spa clients can expect smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year. (This includes all JUVÉDERM injectable gel formulations. Most subjects acquired optimal correction at initial treatment.)
JUVÉDERM XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS™ technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. JUVÉDERM XC is designed to give you the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want (compared to the non-lidocaine JUVÉDERM formulation).
How Does JUVÉDERM XC Work?
Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). As you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.
Where Does JUVÉDERM XC Work?
JUVÉDERM XC may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas, including:
- Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- Marionette lines
- Thin lips
- Vertical lip lines
Can JUVÉDERM XC Be Used for Lip Injections?
Dr. Pope and Linda commonly use JUVÉDERM as a lip filler to help women and men in Orlando, FL, achieve fuller, shapelier lips. JUVÉDERM’s VOLBELLA® formulation is specially formulated for lip augmentation.
What Are Tear Trough Fillers?
Tear troughs are the small depressions under the eyes where some people have dark circles that make them appear tired all the time. You may also have a hollowed-out appearance under the eyes. VOLBELLA is approved by the FDA specifically for treating tear troughs, reducing the appearance of dark circles by adding volume beneath the eyelids.
How Much Does JUVÉDERM XC Cost in Orlando?
The cost of JUVÉDERM in the Orlando area is determined by the amount of filler injected. Dr. Pope or Linda will discuss your specific pricing after assessing your concerns and goals. Pope Plastic Surgery is proud to offer financing with CareCredit® to help make JUVÉDERM treatments even more affordable.

Alternatives to JUVÉDERM
Not all HA dermal fillers are created equal. Other hyaluronic acid fillers currently on the market are made of granular consistency gels, but JUVÉDERM’s unique manufacturing process (HYLACROSS) creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel.
JUVÉDERM XC vs. BOTOX®: What’s the Difference?
Fillers such as JUVÉDERM treat different types of wrinkles than BOTOX. JUVÉDERM minimizes the appearance of “static” wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, which are caused by sun exposure and the loss of volume that is part of the natural aging process.
BOTOX, on the other hand, addresses “dynamic” wrinkles. Often called expression lines, dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet and “the 11s” between the eyes develop when we squint, frown, or otherwise change our facial expressions.
So, which treatment is right for you? Sometimes both, if you’re concerned about both dynamic and static wrinkles and lines. Combining filler and BOTOX treatments is often called a nonsurgical or liquid facelift because it rejuvenates both the upper and lower face.
Do JUVÉDERM XC Injections Hurt?
JUVÉDERM XC injectable gel is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic used to improve the comfort of treatment.
Is JUVÉDERM XC Safe for All Skin Tones?
JUVÉDERM injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proven its safety and effectiveness in persons of color. Studies with JUVÉDERM showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.
Is JUVÉDERM XC Available in Different Formulations?
JUVÉDERM XC is available in 2 formulations: JUVÉDERM Ultra XC for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus XC, a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and facial wrinkles. This allows Dr. Pope to tailor treatment to meet your unique needs.
How Long Does JUVÉDERM XC Last?
JUVÉDERM XC is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to one year with one treatment.
Is JUVÉDERM XC Safe?
With any cosmetic treatment, safety is the first concern. As always, it’s important to consult with your doctor before deciding on a wrinkle treatment. Because JUVÉDERM injectable gel is a non-surgical, in-office treatment, most patients experience minimal recovery and downtime.
Are There Side Effects With JUVÉDERM XC?
JUVÉDERM XC injectable gel is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
Can JUVÉDERM XC Cause Allergic Reactions?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are generally biocompatible, which means allergy skin testing is not required prior to treatment. Dr. Pope will ask about your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. JUVÉDERM should not be used in patients who have:
- Severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies
- A history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins
- A history of allergies to lidocaine.
